The Intercontinental Slavery Museum, founded on January 20, 2020, is a museum institution of the Mauritian state operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage. The museum is situated in a historic building constructed by Governor Labourdonnais, the administrator of Isle de France (Mauritius), from 1735 to 1744. ISM Mauritius Ltd positions itself as a site of consciousness and reconciliation, aiming to enable Mauritians to explore the dark yet extraordinary period that contributed to the construction of the Mauritian nation.

Our aspirations for this museum project stem from a need for sharing, and this transmission has initially occurred through various publications and temporary exhibitions, with the Intercontinental Slavery Museum and its Research and Documentation Center still in an implementation phase. A collection of guides, magazines, brochures, and soon our exhibition catalog will sharpen your curiosity with our range of public-friendly materials!
