The Center for Research and Documentation of ISM is an integral part of the Intercontinental Slavery Museum. It was created to enable ISM to fulfill its commitment:<\/p>

  • Pay homage to the memory of thousands of enslaved individuals and their descendants in the creation and consolidation of the Mauritian and global economy and society.<\/li>
  • Promote respect for African peoples, recognize their contribution to Mauritius, and empower the concerned communities.<\/li>
  • Promote the cultural preservation and scientific study of the phenomena of slavery and slave trade in the Indian Ocean.<\/li>
  • Facilitate the development of study programs, scientific research, and the production of educational materials.<\/li>
  • Contribute to a Deeper Understanding of Cultural Transformations and Interactions Generated by the Tragedy of Slavery.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

    VISION<\/strong><\/p>

    • The ISM Documentation and Research Center is dedicated to a more profound understanding of the history of our past and the impact of the international slave trade and slavery on Mauritius, the region, and the world.<\/li><\/ul>

      MISSION<\/strong><\/p>

      • To identify, acquire, record, organize, store, preserve, and disseminate records and information related to the subject of the slave trade, slavery, and its interconnected themes for the region and the Republic of Mauritius.<\/li><\/ul>

        GOALS AND OBJECTIVES <\/u><\/strong><\/p>

        • The ISM Documentation and Research Center will undertake several tasks, including inventorying and identifying data related to the slave trade, slavery, and interconnected themes; acquiring published collections; archiving and indexing documents on slavery; preserving and documenting each artifact in the permanent exhibition; scientific research; and dissemination of records.<\/li>
